Carbon Neutral Charter
The world has been experiencing severe climate change over the past few decades. Rising global temperatures, vanishing glaciers, and extreme weather events have caused much loss of lives, damaged habitats, and led to business obstacles. In response to this threat, governments worldwide have agreed on climate agreements and started setting their respective carbon-neutral targets. Hong Kong and China have set 2050 and 2060 as targets respectively for carbon neutrality and are urging corporations to take action to support the national initiative.
Leveraging the success of Hong Kong ESG Reporting Awards (HERA), widely supported by industry stakeholders that include Environment Bureau, Financial Services Development Council, Hong Kong Green Finance Association, Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, and other renowned organisations, Hong Kong ESG Report Awards Limited is proud to bring you the Carbon Neutral Charter. With climate-related risks becoming one of the most pressing global priorities that requires instant and cooperative efforts, the Charter aims to facilitate businesses, listed or private, big or small, to reduce their carbon emissions, contributing to the SDG Climate Action.
By pledging to the Charter and taking up an active role in society, companies can demonstrate their commitment to the national carbon-neutral target by taking steps for mitigating climate risks and inspiring the business community towards decarbonisation. Upon reviewing the company’s carbon-neutral commitment, reduction initiatives and roadmap, eligible companies officially become signatories of the HERA Carbon Neutral Charter as well as HERA Community Members.
